Which do you prefer: NES vs. Sega Genesis

NES:

SEGA GENESIS:

In the home video game console wars, the NES and Sega Genesis are the two systems that I remember initially going head to head. Both systems had plenty of success for several years before other systems would eventually replace them.

Anyone that played with these systems are likely to have great memories. I know I do. My question is, if you had to pick one, which system do you prefer?

NES?
Sega Genesis?

  1. this is a truly difficult decision. I had both systems as a pre-teen/young teen.

the Sega clearly had better graphics. yet, the NES was the first system my family owned. played several sports games with dad, most of which were baseball games. he was more comfortable learning the NES over the Sega.

I think helped to develop fond memories of the NES.

there were games on the NES that would've been popular with people in my generation that I still enjoy playing. granted, I need emulators to play those games now, as my old NES hasn't worked in a long time.

since both game systems were a big part of my youth, anytime I can play the old games brings pure joy to me. I don't care if people view it as old school, retro, or whatever other terminology is out there. for me, both systems have great memories.

NES was more of a light hearted system for me. if I wanted better graphics, more intense games (for the time frame), etc., then Sega was the choice.

I loved being able to go back and forth quite a bit. depending on my mood, I wanted a simplistic game like Pac-Man, Q*Bert, Donkey Kong and what not.

other times, I wanted Mutant League Football, Sonic the HedgeHog, so on and so on.

for me, this is a huge draw. do a coin-toss and that's the result you'll get from me.

I realize this is wishy washy, but I don't care. we're all entitled to be wishy washy....right?
